Meet Marissa

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA)

Hi there! My name is Marissa. I’m a therapist, social worker (LCSWA), sister, wife, and friend. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (especially fantasy and romance), playing video games, spending time with my friends and my husband, paddleboarding, and recreational volleyball (spoiler alert: I’m not very good!)

About Me (as a therapist)

In our sessions, expect a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. We'll work collaboratively to address your concerns, focusing on your strengths and utilizing mindfulness techniques to promote self-awareness and healing.

As someone who deeply understands trauma and shares the perspective of being a queer therapist, I offer a space where our shared experiences can foster genuine connection and growth.

My specialty is working with young adults (ages 18 and up) who have struggled with neurodivergence (autism & ADHD), gender or sexual identity (LGBTQIA+), and trauma. Life is too short to surrender to trauma, bad relationships, anxiety, or depression. I am trained in EMDR for deeper trauma healing and use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution focused therapy, mindfulness and somatic techniques, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing.

My Therapy Approach

You’ll have autonomy and control.

Everything we do together is built around your needs and tailored to you being in the driver’s seat. I’m right alongside you, but every step will be anchored in your comfort and direction.

Holistic and Strengths-Focused

As a therapist, my priority is to help you feel seen and understood, which includes every part of you and the larger systems that impact your life. We will spend time not only on where you want to grow, but also focusing on the strength you already hold within yourself!

Grounded in Empathy and Understanding

Our work together will focus on how I can support you in your growth, which often starts by facilitating a better understanding of yourself. We’ll work together to explore your roots from a place of compassion and patience.
